During the British Grand Prix weekend, renowned London-based street artist D*Face made headlines not just for his artwork, but for stepping behind the wheel. In a groundbreaking move, the artist unveiled a custom-painted Radical art car, which he will race himself in collaboration with British driver Oscar Joyce.
This marks the first time an artist has both designed and driven a race car bearing their own creation. The vibrant vehicle was revealed alongside a brand-new graffiti mural D*Face painted directly at Silverstone, blending the world of street art with the adrenaline of motorsport.
“This is a full-circle moment,” said D*Face. “It’s about merging two passions — street art and speed — and showing how creativity doesn’t have to stay on the wall.”
The project reflects a growing intersection between contemporary art and cultural arenas like fashion, music, and now racing. The Radical art car is expected to feature in upcoming events, with D*Face continuing his journey on and off the track.
This year, Silverstone wasn’t just about horsepower — it was also about art in motion.
